Parent portal

At Blackalls Park Public School we use School Bytes to make communication and admin easier for families. The School Bytes parent portal provides flexibility for you to conveniently:

• make payments quickly and securely
• check your account history and previous payments
• view academic reports
• view and approve student support plans
• give parental consent for school activities and events
• stay up to date with school news feed and calendar of events
• record absences and apply for extended travel leave.

And more! This can be done wherever you are, whenever you want day or night.

The School Bytes portal is available for you to register and begin using. Just visit School Bytes.

When creating a new account please use the email address you have provided to the school and your child’s official name (preferred names will not link you together).

Our parent portal apps

Simplifying Communication - Absences

Regular school attendance is important for your child’s learning and social development. If your child is absent from school, you must ensure that you provide the school with a written explanation.

Submit an absence notification through School Bytes

You can submit your child’s absence through the School Bytes Parent App(opens in new window)

The School Bytes Parent Portal allows parents to view all their children in one portal and enables parents to provide details of a planned absence, if the absence details are known in advance - for example; to report an illness or a scheduled medical appointment.

Parents can also provide a response for any unexplained student absences that have been recorded by the school within 7 days of the absence.

Late arrival or early departure

We would prefer partial absences are not submitted on the School Bytes Parent App prior to the partial absence as we have to amend times once a child has left or arrived regardless.

Parents/carers are encouraged to come into the office when their child arrives late. Parents may call to explain the absence if they are unable to leave the car when they arrive.

A parent/carer must come and sign their child/ren in or out of school via the school office for early departures.

Extended leave

Families are encouraged to travel during school holidays. If travel during school term is necessary, you can only submit up to 9 days leave on the School Bytes Parent App.

If travelling for 10 days or more, you will need to complete an Application for Extended Leave - Travel

You can now complete the form online through School Bytes with your travel itinerary or flight details.
